"Possession" by S.K. Falls

Possession (Fevered Souls, #1)Possession by S.K. Falls

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this first installment of a serial novel by S.K. Falls! Of course, I'll go ahead and get out of the way the requisite whining about it being too short, and I wanted more, and blah, blah, blah. But it's true! I was just settling in good with my new best friend Cara (main character), and starting to build up an unhealthy attraction to Dax (sexy, secretive love interest), when it was all over.
The story started off fast and furious, introducing Cara and Dax and bringing their immediate attraction to the forefront.
"Invisible electricity crackled through the air in the five feet of space between us. I knew in my gut that if I crossed the room and grabbed his arm - his quite nicely muscled arm, my brain noted - the current between us would be strong enough to kill me."
Of course, to keep things interesting, Dax acts as though he has some aversion to Cara, and tries to get away from her as fast as possible. But as is want to happen in these pesky paranormal stories, strange events out of Cara and Dax's control throw them back together. Cara is attacked by a strange creature and Dax saves her life. Upon waking up after the attack, Cara is quick to realize that her sexy mystery man has a lot of secrets he is keeping from her. Numero uno being that he is not at all immune to the effect she has on him, but for some mysterious reason still wants to keep her at arm's length. After doing a bit of research at the local library, Cara thinks that she has at least figured out one of his secrets.
"Dax Allard was a demon. He was here to steal my soul. And I'd fallen in love with him instantly."
That was where the first installment of this serial novel ended. (I know, right?) All I can say is that I hope S.K. Falls is writing furiously at this very moment, because I can't wait to read more!
** And I love the cover of this book!  It is amazing!
