Waiting on Wednesday #1

Today I am participating in the Waiting on Wednesday meme hosted by Breaking the Spine
This is a weekly event that spotlights upcoming releases that I'm eagerly anticipating!

This week's "can't wait to read" selection is:

Affliction by Laurell K. Hamilton
Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series #22

Will be available on July 2, 2013.

From Barnes & Noble:  Some zombies are raised. Others must be put down. Just ask Anita Blake.

Before now, she would have considered them merely off-putting, never dangerous. Before now, she had never heard of any of them causing human beings to perish in agony. But that’s all changed.

Micah’s estranged father lies dying, rotting away inside from some strange ailment that has his doctors whispering about “zombie disease.”

Anita makes her living off of zombies—but these aren’t the kind she knows so well. These creatures hunt in daylight, and are as fast and strong as vampires. If they bite you, you become just like them. And round and round it goes…

Where will it stop?
Even Anita Blake doesn’t know.

  2. I haven't read Laurell K. Hamilton in ages (she got a bit racy for me) but this sounds good. Maybe I'll have to check her out again. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I will say that the last few books in the Anita Blake series did sort of drop the plot line in favor of endless sex scenes. I'm holding out hope though that this book will return more to the lightning paced Anita action that made the series good to begin with. Thanks for the return visit! :)

  3. I dropped Anita Blake around the time the endless sex started, pity because I used to LOVE the series initially, sigh...you'll just have to tell me if this one is badass and awesome like the earlier ones! :D Love the pick, am going to read me some early kickass Anita Blake.

    1. From your mouth to Laurell K. Hamilton's ears, lol. Anita was one of my favorite series until it turned. It would be awesome if it was resurrected!

  4. Sadly, I stopped reading the Anita books awhile back, but I would like to get back into them at some point. Nice pick!

    1. Truthfully, I probably would have left them several books back, but I have OCD when it comes to reading a series. I literally CAN NOT stop reading until the series is finished, lol. Sometimes it pays off and it comes back around, and sometimes I just have to suffer through until it's over.

  5. I have never read an Anita Blake book, but I know lots of folks who love them. I can't believe she's up to #22, though! That's kind of crazy. :)

Thanks for the follow! I'm about to friend you on Goodreads!

    1. Thanks for stopping by - here and on Goodreads! I just love meeting new people :) I would definitely say you should read the Anita books if you ever get a chance, but it does sort of take a turn for the worse once it gets up in the teens.

  6. #22??? That's crazy! How does she come up with new ideas for the same characters? Well, good for her, I guess! I hope you enjoy this one!

    1. Thank you! I'm sure I will end up enjoying it if just for the fact that I love the Anita Blake world and the earlier characters.

  7. Can't believe LKH has 22 books in this series!! I have the first few but never had a chance to start them. So many ppl. either love this series or hate it, and I've also heard ppl. are getting tired of it, but maybe it's because of the direction she took with this series.

    1. You should definitely read the first few if you already have them! They are amazing! I still love the series because I'm so attached to most of the earlier characters - I have just been so frustrated with the lack of story line in her last several Anita books. I have high hopes for this one, though!

Thank you so much for your comment! I read each and every one of them, I swear. :)
