Sacrifice is a 23,000 word prequel to Fall For Me. It tells the story of Grace and Seth, and what happened in that castle. It is meant to be read after Fall For Me, although it can be read first...

Seth’s heart is breaking. He knows his decision will hurt the one person he keeps breathing for, but he can’t take it anymore. He can’t be near Grace knowing she will always be just out of reach.

Grace is oblivious to Seth’s turmoil. She loves him unconditionally, but not in the way he wants. They both know that in Heaven physical love is forbidden, and to break the rules is to defy everything they’ve ever been taught.

When Grace and Seth are sent on a mission to save a young mother and her unborn child, Grace must face the fact that Seth won’t be returning home. She doesn’t understand Seth’s decision and hates him for it. But what neither of them realise is how big a part that single decision will play in shaping their entire future.

What would you sacrifice for the one you love?

Sacrifice is a prequel novella that is meant to be read after you read Fall For Me, Book One in the Tate Chronicles. However, I read it first, and I have to say now that I've also finished Fall For Me I am actually glad I did it backwards.

Sacrifice gives us the back story between the angels Grace and Seth. They are both Angels of Light that live in Heaven and are sporadically sent down to earth to protect humans. However, Seth has found himself facing a huge dilemma that is threatening to destroy everything he values. He has fallen in love with Grace. They have always been best friends, and she loves him unconditionally, but he desires a love that is more. But to feel this way for her is to break the rules of the Angels. It is forbidden to feel anything but brotherly or sisterly love towards your fellow Angels. So Seth makes a choice that will cost him everything, but will save the one he loves more than himself.

An added bonus is that Sacrifice is told from Seth's POV, so you are able to see the depth of how he really feels about Grace, and the motivations behind the decisions he makes. I was really grateful for this insight while reading Fall For Me. If you choose to jump over and read my review on that book, I'll go into more detail. Overall, I love this new series about Angels and Vampires (oh, yeah - there's vampires!). It is a new take on two familiar worlds, and I love how it all meshes together in a new and interesting way. This is definitely a must-read new series!

“Angels aren’t supposed to fall in love, especially with each other. But for the record, you were worth it.”

Grace Tate is a Protection Angel and Vampire Hunter, and she has always followed the rules. But some rules are made to be broken…

Until now the fight against evil has been simple, and falling in love was never part of the plan. So what happens when it’s beyond Grace’s control, and when she least expects it she falls for the wrong person?

All hell breaks loose, that’s what.

At Hopetown Valley High, not everything is as it seems, and the one person Grace thought was her enemy becomes her most important ally.

Blood will be shed, lives will be lost and friendships will be tested. It all comes down to one decision, and when Grace tries to save all those dear to her, she realises not everyone can be—or wants to be—saved.

Fall For Me (The Tate Chronicles, #1)Fall For Me by K.A. Last

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Fall For Me is Book One in the Tate Chronicles, and follows the story of the Protection Angel, Grace. Grace was created to be an Angel of Light that lived in Heaven and was intermittently assigned missions down on earth to save humans. Her partner was her best friend Seth, but in the beginning of this book he makes a choice to renounce Heaven and become a fallen Angel. Grace is understandably devastated by his decision and grieves for the loss of Seth, while being furious with him at the same time.

It is at this point that the Heavenly Council offers Grace a mission of a lifetime. She will be sent back to earth to be born as a girl child in a set of twins. She will be a Protection Angel, and will watch over her twin brother who will be a Vampire Hunter. She will stay with him until they are adults - they will train together and hunt and kill vampires together until her brother is old enough (usually mid-20's) to father the next set of Tate family twins. Then Grace will die and be reborn again as the new girl twin. And so on and so forth. We get a glimpse into the first couple of Grace's rebirths before the story finally settles in and really begins with the sixth generation of the Tate twins. The story is about Grace and her twin brother Archer.

This story hit the ground running and didn't let up until the end. There were so many twists and turns, and the plot is exciting and refreshing. Not only are Grace and Archer killing vampires left and right, they are also acting as normal 17-year olds who are attending school and have friends. Also, to make things more complicated, Seth has been popping in and out of Grace's life since her mission began, and in this life he has also changed himself into a teenager that goes to her school. He is determined to make her talk to him again, since she has been ignoring him for the last several hundred years - still furious with him over his choice to become a fallen angel.

This is where I was really, really glad I read the prequel novella Sacrifice first before I read this book. Seth is seen as a huge jerk through Grace's eyes, and she firmly believes that he is evil, and has turned away from all of his angelic goodness. He is friends with several vampires that Grace and Archer are hunting, and all signs point to the fact that he has become evil himself. But something just kept ringing false about that to me. And I think it was the glimpse we had of Seth from the novella. All I'll say is don't give up hope. However, I do think that the downfall to me reading Sacrifice first was that I never really gave Josh a chance. Josh is the human boy that Grace falls in love with and wants to be with in this book. However, she is still an Angel, and it is against the rules to have any sort of relationship with a human. Which leads Grace to have to make her own life changing choice. Well, that and another very interesting story line. I won't detail it for you here - I'll leave some surprises for the actual book! Anyway, I was never a fan of the Josh/Grace romance because I desperately wanted Grace to learn the truth about Seth, and for them to finally get the chance to be together. In the end, it is way more complicated than Grace just having to choose between Seth and Josh.

The end of the book definitely left several wide open story lines to be continued in the next book, and I can't wait to read it and see what happens. I highly recommend that you pick up this series and read it!
