I Remember You is a story about lost love that gets found again. Samantha is in love with her high school boyfriend when the story begins. Lance is pressuring her to have sex with him, and she is afraid that if she doesn't give in then he will leave her. Thanks to the story shifting back and forth from Sam to Lance's POV, we know that this is not the case. He is really in love with her, but he's also an 18 year old boy, so OF COURSE he wants to have sex with his girlfriend! This part of the story was really sweet, and I really felt how much they loved each other. The angst, overwhelming emotions, and I-love-you-so-much-I'm-going-to-die feelings are spot-on for how teenagers feel when they are in love.

But then something happens that tears Lance and Sam apart. For ten years. When they run into each other again, it is pure coincidence - fate if you will have it. They have both been busy pursuing successful careers; Lance is a rock star and Sam is a writer. They have each had relationships, but none have worked out because they are still hung up on each other. When Sam decides to buy a ticket to Lance's concert, he pulls her backstage after the show and then takes her back to his hotel room. Then things get real hot, real quick!

I will say that I am a big fan of erotica, and very explicit love scenes. I'm not easily offended or put off by anything in the sex department. :) But while the sex scenes in I Remember You were very, very hot and steamy, they didn't really fit this story. I kind of felt like I was reading two different books that were mushed together. The parts where Sam and Lance are together everywhere but the bedroom are sweet, and tender, and soft. Then when they get frisky it turns into a dirty talking raunchfest. Once again, there's nothing wrong with that in the right book - it just didn't seem to go with this book. It felt forced. I think that if it had been toned down just a smidgen it would have flowed a million times better with Sam and Lance's story.

Even though this was a very short novella, the story was tied up very neatly with no loose ends. I loved the epilogue and how it kind of brought everything full circle - but I almost missed it since the last chapter had "The End" at the bottom of the page. Fortunately, I usually swipe my e-reader all the way to the last page to read the acknowledgments, so I was very pleasantly surprised to find more to the story.

Overall, I liked this story. I love a story about people who are in love, but forced apart to grow on their own. Then when they find their way back to each other, magic happens. It makes for a much better story than insta-love immediately turned into HEA. Go get this book! It's short and sweet and worth the read.
