Vampire Elite
Part 1. Prophecy
Part 2. Keepers of the Key

What will he do if saving his people means destroying the woman he loves?
A millennia-long war between two immortal races is about to come to an end. Long ago, the Vampire Elite began capturing the immortals called the Amiti, attracted by their unique blood properties. Now most Amiti live in underground cells, forced to serve as vampires’ bloodstock. The few surviving free Amiti, preparing a final strike, have declared their Queen a traitor. Her execution makes possible the rise of a new Queen, her young daughter Arianna, who will inherit her mother's mystical powers. Working with the Keepers of the Key, Arianna may be able to eliminate the vampires, once and for all, from the face of the earth.
The new Queen is the last hope to save her dying race
and she's ready to fight to the last drop of her blood.
But the King of the Vampires has other plans.
 What neither expects
is the passion that erupts between them.
Vampire Elite is an epic story of a bitter conflict between two immortal races, and the effect of that conflict on everyone living in its grip. The characters are driven to love and betrayal, vengeance and sacrifice in a world without easy black-and-white answers.
Based on an ancient Egyptian legend, packed with action and intrigue, Vampire Elite will pull you into the entrancing world of immortals and open new portals into their hidden universe.

She loved tormenting him, making him tremble with anticipation, his breath hitching in his throat. She knew it turned him on, and she’d also discovered that his blood tasted even better than usual when he was aroused.
“Now go to the wall and spread your arms. Make it easy for me to punish you,” she commanded.
Oberon obeyed, leaning against the wall and placing his wrists into the metal cuffs embedded in the wall. Simone locked the cuffs and left him like that.
A moment later, she returned looking like Catwoman in a black latex bodysuit, her hair pulled into a high, thick ponytail. She’d accessorized with thick studded cuffs at her wrists, a braided whip at her waist and a dagger in her hand.
Walking slowly and deliberately toward Oberon, she sliced through all his clothing, removing it and his weaponry piece by piece. Dropping the dagger she tilted her head to appreciate the sight of him: completely naked, vulnerable, and helpless—and hard for her, of course. Good.
She showed him her fangs then lowered her mouth to his jugular and bit into the skin lightly, releasing only a few drops of blood. She lowered her head to his chest, tracing the muscles there with her tongue, and then, using her fangs as daggers, she pierced his skin in unexpected places: his chest, shoulders, biceps, abs, hips. The blood oozed from the cuts, and soon Oberon’s body was covered with crimson streaks that formed random, vivid patterns across the golden skin of his torso and legs.
“You look incredibly sexy,” Simone heard herself saying as she shifted into an altered state, seeing nothing but this tantalizing male body bleeding for her.

**I'm super excited to welcome Irina Argos to my blog today to talk about Vampire Elite!

Q:  What makes this book different from other vampire books?  The Amiti.

A: What makes Vampire Elite different from other vampire book is the presence of immortal beings called the Amiti. The goddess Hathor created the Amiti 8000 years ago as a counterbalance to the goddess Sekhmet’s creation of vampires. As Hathor envisioned it, the purpose of the Amiti was to protect humanity by providing a “buffer species” who would mate with vampires and fulfill their need for blood—and in the process, tempering the vampires’ violence by unlocking love in their hearts. Amiti blood has unique properties, including the ability to rapidly regenerate itself, and it is receptive to the will of the Amiti whose body created it. Amiti do not feel depleted when they feed vampires; in fact, they find vampires’ feeding to be an incredibly pleasurable experience, one their bodies were literally designed to enjoy. When a vampire takes a Amiti’s vein, a powerful connection is created called the blood-bond. Within the blood-bond Amiti can command their blood cells in a vampire partner's body to create pleasure or pain, to heal or even bring the vampire back to life, or to kill the vampire. Amiti blood that has been “artificially” drained—via catheter or cutting, for instance—loses these unique qualities, although it retains most of the exquisite taste and scent that makes it desirable to vampires. Legend holds that some Amiti have learned to control their blood even when it is removed from their bodies outside of the blood-bond.

Besides the blood-bond and power over their blood, Hathor granted Amiti the ability to shapeshift, mimicking or impersonating specific humans; a shielding power that allows Amiti to conceal their energies; and a variety of supernatural powers that manifest differently in each Amiti. And yet, in spite of all these powers, the Amiti have so far failed to accomplish their mission. In fact, the majority of the Amiti are now living in underground cells as vampires’ bloodstock, unwilling blood donors who are treated as enslaved livestock.

Among the few embattled Amiti who remain free, the leadership is preparing for a final battle that will eliminate the practice of keeping bloodstock forever—by annihilating the vampires themselves. And the vampires, of course, are doing whatever they can to keep that from happening. Want to know how it all plays out? Welcome to the world of the Vampire Elite.

I loved this book!  It has such a different and interesting spin on the Vampire world, that it is definitely not like reading the same old vampire story.  The addition of the Amiti (see above Guest Post for more details), really adds interesting and intriguing elements to the story.  It just opens up so many new possibilities for story lines.  For instance, the idea of a blood-bond between a vampire and another creature has been seen before in countless other vampire books.  However, the blood-bond between an Amiti and a Vampire is different.  Not only can the Amiti bound with countless vampires at a time, but a Vampire can break a blood-bond with an Amiti, by bonding with another Amiti.  Plus, the Vampire can make the decision to live with the Amiti as their mate, not just use them as bloodstock.  This is very important to the story because of the unique properties of the Amiti blood-bond.  Amiti can use their blood-bond to either enhance the strength, power, and pleasure of the vampire they're bonded with - or to kill them by burning them from the inside out.  There are numerous scenarios in the book where the Amiti/Vampire blood-bond are central to the plot.

I was also very intrigued by all of the mythological history that this book is based on.  It is very obvious that this book and its' origins were very well researched by the authors. I loved how they incorporated all of the interesting data into the story.  The glossary at the beginning of the book is extensive, but very interesting reading.  And, you have the choice to either read it before you begin the book, or refer back to it periodically when you need clarification on something in the story.  It's not just one big info dump as soon as you jump in to the book.  This allows you to enjoy the story without getting bogged down in all of the details.

I think that this book has it all:  love, betrayal, good vs. evil, and vampires!  The pace of the book never flagged for a  moment and I did not want to put it down.  There are several critical plot developments and crises that keep the story twisting and turning - and I was engrossed from beginning to end.  I also really loved how the story was structured.  One character, or couple, would be introduced in the present day, and then there would be a flashback that would explain their history and how they met, or what their significance was to each other and the story.  Very well done.

I loved this book and can't wait to read the next installment in this series!
